Anyone is invited to take part personally in making his or her own harp in my workshop. This usually lasts a week, from Monday to Friday (occasionally even till Saturday).

During this period one single course participant only is in my care, i.e. according to prior arrangement.

During the course we are busy making an Irish harp with modern carbon strings. You are free to chose the dimensions of the harp and the number of strings. The benefit of making a harp in this way is that, from the very beginning, the musician is aware of possessing not a mass-produced or cheaply made instrument, but a reliable and perfectly hand-crafted instrument - and this is only possible with one-to-one courses.

What´s more, the course participant, be it male or female,
can immediately take home a well-sounding instrument after completion, which he or she helped to make.

ince each and every harp has always been a very individual musical instrument - and will always be such - people often express the wish to have included in the design of their instrument their personal decoration, initials or traditional ornaments. Depending on the craftsman´s skill, there are various possibilities - carving a relief, painting or pyrographic art. The participant can be assured during the entire process that he or she will never be left alone, even if things get a bit sticky.

For the bass tones, every harp is equipped with synthetic strings covered with copper winding, and for the melodious tones, the strings are of fluorine carbon producing a very brilliant sound. If desired, the instrument can also be gut-strung. Additionally, there´s the choice between three types
of wood - sycamore, ash or cherry (or other choices by prior arrangement).

Since it is possible to chose between so many models, the cost of such an instrument - according to the official price list - is calculated with a reduction of 25%.
Therefore, please enquire as to the valid course costs. Included in the costs are the following: all preparatory work, materials, plus customer attention the whole week.
(Minor surcharge for special wishes).

The scope of the course does not include semitone levers. However, the instruments are designed such semitone mechanisms can be attached later on, if desired.
(In this case, please order in advance). Should such semitone levers be attached later on, the cost differs according to the number and quality of the mechanisms and also the valid exchange rates for the US dollar and English pound against the Euro.
Fitting the half-tone semitone levers is regarded as customer service and is free of charge.
